The current situation is so typical I almost could have predicted it. I've finally gotten ethernet access in my dorm room, and for that the peasants rejoice. Download speeds average at 30 and peak at up to 70. But, as is bloody typical, I can't connect to any IRC server. Not a sausage. Bugger all. I've got friends here who can't live without their IRC either so hopefully we may be able to beat the system operator into submission and get past the firewall (at least we think it's the firewall).
On the other hand, I did get to play the Wolfenstein multiplayer test last night (and most of today :D). I had to make rather unacceptable concessions in graphical quality AND resolution just to make the crappy Team Arena terrain engine happy, but once I did so I had lots of fun, especially on servers with some people who actually knew what they were doing. I performed fairly well, although there were a few with higher scores than I, but I'm actually a bit prouder of being the kind of guy who'll switch to the team that's outnumbered and down by 3 caps.
I've also decided to return to the world with a happy little bonus: a new #TF comic! Despite the cartoon, my room is actually pretty large and spacious as dorms go, but the joke was there to be made, so I did. As you can see above, I've also started experimenting with drawing #tf characters in Photoshop, and so far the results are quite nice (instant reproportioning by dragging path corners is a hell of a lot more appealing than erasing twenty pencil lines until you get it right).
